Supporting Eyecare for Children at Local Schools

We have been promoting the importance of sight examinations for pre-school children and supporting local primary schools at the same time.

Pevensey and Westham C.E. Primary School recently held a Summer Fayre to which we donated a £99 pair of sunglasses as a prize.

Also in June, information packs were sent out by the school illustrating the importance of having sight examinations at a young age. These packs were sent to the parents of pupils starting school in September. We wanted to stress the importance of eyecare at a young age because conventional screening methods (e.g. clinics, some schools etc.) do not always pick up potential defects (including squinting, excessive blinking etc.) and in some areas no screening is available at all.

It is vital that any problems are detected early so that they can be treated as soon as possible.
